ICEBAR Orlando a COOL place to visit

Back

While in Orlando Tigger and his entourage were looking for something unique and different to do one evening and had heard about the ICEBAR Orlando. It is a specialized room that is completely made out of ICE! This bar contains of 70 tons of hand-carved ice including seats, bars, sculptures and vodka fountains! We though it sounded like a fun way to escape the Florida heat for a bit!

On this trip we had our teenage children with us so we bought tickets online for the half-off happy hour because while Guests 21+ are welcome at all times, guests 8-20 are only welcome between 5:00-9:00pm. Half-off happy hour is offered Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 pm -9:00 pm for $9.95 per person. Regular price is $19.95 per person. We arrived at 6:00 and were greeted by friendly staff that got us outfitted with Jackets and gloves. Tigger didn’t need the fur coat upgrade he has plenty of fur already. If you want a little luxury you can easily upgrade at the door to a warm and extravagant faux fur coat for only $10 more. There are several different packages, some include the fur and drinks or you can go a la carte like we did.

Next we were shown into the bar and it is beautiful, the low blue light makes the ice sparkle. The sculptures and carving are ornate and the seating is covered with faux fur pelts for comfort. They have specialty drinks you can order, David tried the Root Beer Float and I had the Creamcicle, the kids had juice and soda. All drinks were chilled and served in custom carved ice glass. Both drinks were delicious.

After about 20 minutes in the ice bar (kept at a nippy 22 degrees) it was time to move on and warm up in the Fire Lounge. This area is the night club portion of the building with a nightly DJ, Signature Cocktails and Bar Food. Since we were there early it was mostly empty but enjoyed the warmth and ambiance. I can see it being a great place to dance the night away with friends.

Overall we had a lot of fun and look forward to our next visit with our friends from Canada later this year.

The next time you are down on International in Orlando, Florida on a hot and humid day, plan to spend some cooling off...
