April 18, 2013 - Three recommendations for places to stay
For nearly three decades, Tigger has read and respected suggestions from TRAVEL+LEISURE Magazine. Today, Tigger loves three recommendations for places to stay on your upcoming visit to Southern California where the weather is perfect, the beaches are beautiful and the mountains, divine!

Palm Springs, California
The Alcazar Palm Springs

Pool view at the new Alcazar
Starting at $129.00 (USD) per night, this brand new hotel offers a relaxing environment near the heart of Palm Springs. Decorated in a white-on-white decor, it is designed to create a minimal impact with the view of Mt San Jacinto and Tahquitz Peak looming in the distance. The red tiled roof buildings surround the idealistic setting design for your enjoyment.

There are two nearby recommendations for your dining pleasure. For breakfast and lunch they recommend:
Cheekey's

Opened in 2008 Cheeky's has become a Palm Springs institution and arguably the best breakfast in the desert (not to mention lunch). The unique and thoughtful menu changes weekly and is highly praised for its unique farm-to-table cuisine, featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Everything is perfectly seasoned with herbs from their on-site herb garden. Casual, simple, perfect!

For dinner, consider this Uptown location:
Birba

Opened in 2011 Birba is the nighttime darling of the Uptown District. This Danish design inspired restaurant/lounge offers urban dining with outdoor fire pits, couches, and a sprawling Carrera marble bar. The innovative menu features Italian wood fired pizzas, delicate salads, braised meats, and homemade desserts. Vibrant, current, and design chic, you can enjoy music, locally sourced fare, hand crafted cocktails, and an eclectic crowd...all under the sexy desert sky.
